Cheddar cheesemaking originated in the English village of Somerset but it’s living its best life in Pennsylvania. Traditional characteristics of cheddar are fine curds that give a firm texture, rich in body but melts in the mouth, and a mildly earthy, yet sharp flavor similar to a toasted hazelnut.

Second generation cheesemaker Israel Kinsinger has spent more than 40 years honing his skills and it shows with this cheese. The 8oz Mountain Valley Sharp Cheddar bricks mark all the boxes for a traditional cheddar and has calcium lactate crystals to prove its worth.

Super versatile, this cheese pairs well with mustards, pickled vegetables and most fruits. Cut in slices or cubes and allow to come to room temperature. Try with crisp white wines (Pinot Grigio), dry reds (Cabernet Sauvignon), dry hard cider, lager or pale ale.
